Who gets stuck

More than 1 in 4 U.S. adults have a disability.

Some shop with a screen reader, their voice or zoom. If a button doesn't work for them, they may buy somewhere else. Disability data: CDC (opens in a new tab)

Small stores get sued too.

Fixing what's broken is the part you control. No tool, including ours, can promise you won't be sued.

Questions

Straight answers.

What does the free scan check?

Your home page, with 64 automated checks for problems like unnamed buttons, photos with no description and text that’s hard to read. Results in about 30 seconds.

Who makes the fixes?

You or your developer. Some, like photo descriptions, you can add yourself in your Shopify admin. Others need a small theme change. Each item says exactly what to change.

Will this protect my store from lawsuits?

No. Fixing barriers makes your store easier for everyone to use and fixes the problems you control. No tool or audit can promise you won’t be sued.

Why don’t you sell an accessibility widget?

A widget sits on top of your page and can’t fix the code underneath. Widgets didn’t slow lawsuits in 2025 (UsableNet), and the FTC ordered one widget maker to pay $1 million (April 2025) over claims that its tool could make any website fully accessible. We help you fix the real problems instead.

What can a scan not see?

A lot. In a 2018 UK government test, axe (the engine we use) found 29% of planted barriers. A scan can tell a photo has no description, not whether the description makes sense or whether checkout works with a keyboard. That’s what the audit is for.

Is my store too small to worry about this?

Size doesn’t protect you. In 2025, 64% of website accessibility lawsuits were against companies with under $25 million in sales (UsableNet).

Do I need this if I sell to Europe?

Maybe. The EU accessibility law has covered online stores since June 2025, but very small businesses (under 10 staff and €2 million a year) are exempt for their store. Ask a lawyer if you sell there.

Do you install anything on my store?

No. We read your public page the same way a visitor’s browser does. We don’t add widgets, overlays or scripts to your site.

What standard do you check against?

WCAG 2.2 level AA, using the open-source axe-core engine. It also covers the computer-testable parts of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 AA, which U.S. cases and the European Accessibility Act usually point to.

Is this legal advice?

No. Snagless gives technical information about your website. For legal questions, talk to a lawyer.

How does the launch price work?

The first 50 audits cost $149, then $249. You get your report within 5 business days (Monday to Friday, not counting U.S. federal holidays) of your payment, your store address and any storefront password we need. If 2 business days pass after the promised date, we refund you in full without you asking.
